2025 highlights and reflections from IPC Partners

Wednesday 24th December 2025

As 2025 draws to a close, we want to say a big thank you to every subscriber who read, shared, commented on, and turned up for our sessions this year. Your curiosity and support have powered our work, helping us bring practical, evidence led IPC insights to healthcare professionals and industry partners alike.

Below is a brief reflection on each case study we published this year, each one a different lens on collaboration and impact.

  • External review: IPC Partnership with an acute NHS Trust (water hygiene). A focused external review translated complex estate challenges into practical, risk based recommendations—reinforcing how independent expert input can validate mitigation measures and guide next steps for managing Legionella and Pseudomonas aeruginosa risks. • Journal Club: IPC Partnership with the Infection Prevention Society (IPS). Co running Journal Clubs with IPS showed how structured, interactive dialogue can turn published research into practical action, driving engagement, debate, and wider readership across the IPC community. Conference presentation: IPC Partnership with Tristel. At IPC 2025, this talk invited our community to re evaluate surface disinfection in light of operational realities, sustainability goals, and antimicrobial resistance, discussing chlorine dioxide as a viable, evidence aligned option worthy of routine consideration rather than just outbreak response. • Expert panel: IPC Partnership with Genpax. Bringing together clinicians, scientists, and industry to examine proactive whole genome sequencing (WGS) demonstrated how Genpax’s IDEM can help detect transmission early, support targeted interventions, and strengthen the business case for routine genomic surveillance in NHS IPC. • Consensus day: IPC Partnership with Mölnlycke Health Care. A multidisciplinary discussion on Steriwave’s nasal photodisinfection underscored how diverse perspectives from SSI surveillance, microbiology, surgery, and IPC nursing can shape real world evaluation plans and adoption strategies for innovative decolonisation tools.
