Building credible conversations around healthcare water safety

IPC Partners worked with T-Safe to develop and deliver a bespoke six-module training programme focused on healthcare water safety, infection prevention and control, and the role of point-of-use filters in reducing waterborne infection risks. The programme was designed to support commercial teams to engage more confidently with IPC, Estates and Water Safety Group stakeholders.

The challenge

Water safety is a high-priority IPC issue in healthcare, but effective customer engagement requires more than product knowledge. T-Safe wanted its teams to better understand waterborne infection risk, healthcare governance, regulatory expectations and the practical pressures faced by IPC and Estates teams.

The training needed to help participants discuss water safety interventions in a way that was evidence-based, commercially relevant and aligned with risk-based decision-making.

The approach

IPC Partners developed an in-person training programme focused on improving technical understanding of key water safety topics and translating this understanding into conversations with current and new customers. The content translated complex water safety concepts into practical, customer-facing insight, using evidence-based slides, real-world healthcare scenarios, discussion and Q&A.

The solution

The programme covered six key areas:

·      Microbiology of healthcare water systems

·      Waterborne HCAIs and patient risk

·      AMR and the prevention-first agenda

·      Water Safety Groups, governance and IPC roles

·      Evidence, compliance, assurance and value

·      Credible communication with healthcare stakeholders

Together, these modules helped participants understand where point-of-use filtration fits within healthcare water safety strategies and how to communicate its role using appropriate IPC language.

Impact

The training provided T Safe teams with a shared framework for understanding healthcare water safety from the perspective of infection prevention, Estates, governance and patient risk. It supported more credible conversations with healthcare stakeholders and helped position T-Safe as an informed contributor to water safety discussions.
